Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora (BUDPR) is proud to support this year's El Grito de Lares celebration in Minnesota, which will feature a lecture and discussion on Bad Bunny's politics led by BUDPR president Alberto Medina.
The event, which is also supported by Puerto Ricans in Minnesota, the Fiol Family Foundation, and El Fondo Boricua, will commemorate the famous 1868 revolt against Spanish colonialism in Puerto Rico and bring us into the present day, when Puerto Rican megastar Benito Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny) has been supercharging the movement for Puerto Rico's sovereignty. The lecture, followed by a discussion, will tackle how his songs and music videos uplift Puerto Rico's culture, identity, and past and present political struggles. His latest album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, and his ongoing 30-show residency in Puerto Rico present a vision for the island's political future.
This event is free and open to the public! RSVP to receive reminders.
