Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora is the only national political advocacy organization in the United States fighting for Puerto Rico's decolonization and sovereignty. We educate the American public, organize the Puerto Rican diaspora, and engage with U.S. policymakers to advance the struggle for independence.
Events

Through in-person and online events, we educate and inform the Puerto Rican diaspora, our allies, policymakers, and the public about how Puerto Rico's colonial status is hurting our people—and about political sovereignty as the just and achievable alternative to decolonize Puerto Rico.

Political Advocacy

We engage directly with federal lawmakers and candidates to denounce the island's colonial status; to push for a fair, inclusive, and effective decolonization process; and to advocate for sovereignty. As the only explicitly pro-independence organization meeting with policymakers in Washington, D.C., we bring a unique position to conversations about Puerto Rico's status in Congress. We also petition the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization to take action on Puerto Rico.

Thought Leadership and Content

Through writing, media appearances, and viral social media content, we spread the word about Puerto Rico's colonial history under U.S. rule, the ongoing harm caused by Puerto Rico's colonial status today, and why independence is the urgent and necessary outcome to give Puerto Rico a just political future. We reach hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans in the diaspora and American allies who get a new perspective on Puerto Rico's political status.

Organizing and Mobilization
The Puerto Rican diaspora in the United States is a political sleeping giant: nearly 6 million boricuas with power as voters and constituents. We work to awaken and empower the diaspora, along with non-Puerto Rican allies, to advocate for Puerto Rico's decolonization and independence.
